Swedish pop group ABBA has declined an invitation to perform at Eurovision 2024, despite celebrating 50 years since their victory in the competition.
According to The Guardian, ABBA's Benny Andersson has stated that the group will not perform at Eurovision, even for a celebratory performance. "I don't want to. And if I don't want to, then no one else will. It's the same for all four of us. If someone says no, it's no," he said. Another member of the group, Bjorn Ulvaeus, also supported Andersson's statement, saying "We can celebrate the 50th anniversary of ABBA's victory without taking to the stage." Earlier, viewers criticized Sweden's representative Loreen for winning Eurovision 2023, claiming that the event was deliberately timed to coincide with the anniversary of ABBA's victory in 1974. ABBA, founded in 1972, performed for ten years and is known for hits such as "Dancing Queen," "Super Trouper," and "Mamma Mia." The group gained international recognition after winning Eurovision in 1974. ABBA
